My eyes are tired
My eyes are tired
My heart is filled with sorrow
As I walk through my beautiful neighborhood
I think of people dying by the hundreds in Lebanon
Many of them children like mine
I think of people trapped in their villages
The whole world watching
I think also about the people of Haifa
Terrified in their shelters
The insanity engulfing them all
Muslim, Christian and Jew
Holly land transformed in perpetual hell
As I walk through my peaceful neighborhood
Filled with the smells of coffee and nice restaurants
I think of the hundreds dead in Indonesia
Mother earth unleashing her wrath in unexpected bursts
Geological plates shifting bellow us in mysterious ways
The stench of rotting flesh
The resilience of the human spirit
The fragility of us all
I think of my beloved Bay Area
This tragic fate, may we be spared
As I walk through my innocent neighborhood
People smile at me while walking their dogs
I think of the explosion in India
Tired people just trying to get home
Frantic relatives searching for them
Faith can make you blind
Have mercy on us all
I take solace in the hazy view of the Pacific, the Golden Gate,
The gentle green and the flowers around me
This golden light let it shine

Sinto diversas empatias agora. Primeiro pelo o que você escreve (você já sabe - já falei isso), depois pelo o que sente (sinto-me exatamente assim: num casulo, mas com uma ressalva: tenho um grito de inaptidão arranhando a minha garganta que saí sempre mesmo que às avessas), e depois empatia pelos que realmente sofrem (os inocentes, sejam eles os libaneses ou os israelenses, no caso específico) -- também nao acredito em um "bem" contra um "mal" -- mas acredito no "poder", ou melhor, no uso indiscriminado daqueles que o tem.
O seu poema é magnífico. De fato, e apesar da tristeza, consegui extrair dele uma idéia que estava faltando num capítulo da minha dissertação. Obrigada, menina.
Continue escrevendo porque o faz muito bem e com um talento raro!

Tambem acredito "that is all about power," como eles dizem aqui. Eu acho que as pessoas/grupos/governos que detem o poder com frequencia se utilizam dessa dicotomia (bem contra o mal) para justificar as dinamicas de poder.
